To celebrate National Boccia Day tomorrow, the Guernsey Sports Commission, in partnership with Guernsey Mobility Let’s Go, is hosting a Big Boccia Bash.
This free taster session is open to all ages and abilities and will feature standard boccia games as well as some fun challenges.
The event is in the Beau Sejour Sports Hall between 16:00 and 17:30.
"Hopefully people will be familiar with boccia following the recent Paralympics in Paris where the sport featured heavily," said Nicky Will, Director of Communications for the Commission.
"It's one of the most inclusive sports in the world; it's easy to play and you can take part as an individual, a pair or a team of three but we're also going to have some other boccia-based games and challenges that you can try.
"Boccia can be played by anyone but it's uniquely accessible for people with the most severe disabilities so we're looking forward to welcoming as many people as possible to our Big Bash on Friday."
Boccia is already regularly played by groups in the island including the Guernsey Alzheimer's Group and Guernsey Mobility Let's Go.
"The game always features in our weekly sessions," said Paul Wheatley, Activity Coach for GMLG.
"We also deliver boccia for a range of other groups and have some exciting plans for an inter-island challenge later this year which we are currently working on.
"I would encourage anyone to come along to Beau Sejour on Friday to join us and give it a go. Bring the whole family."
The Big Bocia Bash takes place on Friday 27 September between 16:00 and 17:30 at Beau Sejour.
