A 5-2 win against Broxbourne 2nds has booked Guernsey a place in the EH Women’s Tier Three Championship semi-finals.
Tash Symes grabbed a hat-trick and Mali Smith a brace as they enjoyed a successful trip to the south-east.
The game started with some initial nerves for the first five minutes where Broxbourne seemed the stronger side out of the traps.
But Guernsey found their stride and started to play some attractive passing hockey as they took hold of the game.
With less than 10 minutes of the game played, there was a great run from the right from Katherine Bushell and a patient pass in from the baseline to Symes who firmly slotted the ball into the goal.
This started a period of about 20 minutes of dominance from the Greens.
They capitalised on that dominance by two further well-worked passing goals from Symes and Smith. Guernsey led 3-0 at half time.
Broxbourne came out strongly at the start of the second half.
They scored from a short corner, but Guernsey kept pushing forward, creating a number of goal scoring opportunities.
From one of those Smith scored her second.
She picked up a beautiful through ball from Symes, wriggled one way then the other, baffling the Broxbourne defence before slotting the ball past an advancing keeper.
But Broxbourne fought back again and created a great passing move to score at the far past. Guernsey created their final goal from another through ball, this time to a determined Symes, who took the ball wide past the goalkeeper and then scored inside the far post.
In the semi finals, they will face Loughborough Students 5's at Loughborough University on Saturday 20th April.
Victory in this match would earn the Sarnians a place at the England Hockey Club Championships Finals at Lee Valley, the UK's national hockey centre, on Monday 6 May.
Guernsey Ladies would thanked their sponsors: Fort Group, Versa, HFL, Guernsey Post, Dohle Yachts and Vitamini, without whose support their entry in this competition would not have been possible.
