Heartbreak for the Green Lions

Monday 02 December 2024

Tony Vance was left "fuming" after another loss for Guernsey FC yesterday.

The final score was 4-5 to visitors Moneyfields, after 9 minutes of extra time.

The Sarnian goals came from Owen Wallbridge, Matt Loaring, Charlton Gauvain and Ross Allen.

But they weren't enough to lift Vance's spirits. He described their overall performance as "terrible", and said their finishing was "poor" and their defending was "woeful".

"We could have won that game three or four times over. We didn't.

"We got zero points and that's the most disappointing thing, because we probably should have scored eight today."

Guernsey FC's next game is against Ashford, away on Saturday.

Vance said that game is vitally important in their relegation battle.

"It now means that Ashford is hugely significant, hugely important, and we need to not feel sorry for ourselves for too long, and what we do need to do is when we get on that plane and get to that pitch is make sure that we're ready to fight for everything."
