Tiaan Erwee has secured a top three finish in the Montane Winter Spine Race.
Billed as “Britain’s most brutal race”, the route covers 268 miles from Edale in the Peak District to Kirk Yetholm on the border of England and Scotland, this year beginning on snow and ice covered ground which later turned to testing boggy conditions.
Competitors set off at 8am on Sunday and Erwee crossed the line in 86 hours 5 minutes and nine seconds, just over seven minutes behind second spot which was taken by Dave Phillips.
Kim Collinson won in 82:46.32.
Erwee is a former Guernsey resident and course record holder for the local GU36 race.
He won the summer edition of the Spine Race in 2022 and in September was victorious in the 450km long Tor des Glaciers.
Fourth overall and winner of the women's race was former pro triathlete Lucy Gossage.
