A four month trial will allow licensed mountain bike riders to use two sections of the cliffs at night.
It follows consultation between the Guernsey Mountain Biking Association and Agriculture, Countryside & Land Management Services and the St Peter’s and Torteval douzaines.
The trial runs from 30 November until 29 March.
"This approval marks a significant milestone in expanding recreational opportunities for responsible mountain biking on the island," an GMBA spokesperson said.
Various rules are in place to manage the trial, with one section between Les Tielles and Mont Herault Watch House and the other from Batterie Dollman to the demolished bunker at Pleinmont Headland.
Riders can only take to the paths between 18:00 and 05:30 and must be GMBA members and obtain the required trial licence for £5.
Limiting it to the winter aims to reduce the potential for usage conflict and protect the environment.
The GMBA has more than 400 fee-paying members.
It will cover any costs associated with the trial, including signage and maintenance of the cliff sections.
The Association said it would welcome feedback before, during, and after the trial. Anyone with concerns or wishing to report inappropriate conduct can email guernseymountainbike@gmail.com or ACLMS.
