Alastair Chalmers has been recognised as the outstanding performer of 2024 at the Guernsey Sporting Achievement Awards.
The 400m hurdler qualified for the Paris Olympics in dramatic style, having to run under protest at the British Champs - his last chance to secure the time.
He went on to progress through the first round in Paris to qualify for the semi, something he described as a dream come true.
Now Chalmers has his eyes on making finals on the world stage including at the LA Olympics in 2028.
"I'm definitely capable of it. I just need to get it right on the day," he said during a video interview shown at the award ceremony at Beau Sejour last night.
He won the Guernsey Sports Commission Trophy.
