Guernsey’s leading middle distance runners have been pushing new limits and in doing so climbing the rankings lists.

Chirs Bain made the most of his outing at the IFAM Pre-Meeting in Brussels at the weekend, knocking out two personal bests.

He is now the third fastest from Guernsey over 800m after clocking 1:51.55 and backed that up the next day in the 1500m, where his 3:48.19 placed him second on the all-time list.

And yesterday Richard Bartram knocked four seconds off his previous best at the Hercules Wimbledon 1500m Festival Night.

His run of 3:50.65 places him fourth on the Guernsey all-time list.

The quickest Guernseyman over 800m is Keith Falla, who recorded 1:49.02 in 1973, and over 1500m is Lee Merrien, who ran 3:40.79 in 2005.
