The Butterfield Guernsey Half Marathon will keep its new September date, after last year’s race was delayed due to corona virus.
The event has traditionally been held on Father’s Day, but will instead be held on 26 September this year.
“Holding the event in September, with its cooler conditions, is much more favourable for long distance running,” said Race Director, Louise Perrio.

“A September date also fits in better in the race calendar, enabling a season of uninterrupted summer racing with plenty of time for people to build up to the half,” said Ms Perrio.
“People can also train during the dryer summer months rather than battling through what can sometimes be a very wet spring.”
It will be the second year Butterfield has been the title sponsor for the run. 500 people took part in the half marathon in 2020.
“Last year was our first year organising the event and it certainly threw some curve balls our way,” said Butterfield’s Managing Director, Richard Saunders.
“We’re very excited for, what will hopefully be, a more straightforward year ahead and to bring the popular community event to the island’s coastline once again.”
No overseas entries are being accepted at this time. You can register for the event online.
