A week of 'wombling adventures'

Monday 16 September 2019

Five local organisations are teaming up this week to host a series of 'wombling adventures' to coincide with World Clean-Up Day.

Pick it Up Guernsey, Plastic Free Guernsey, La Société Guernesiaise, Fairtrade Guernsey and the Alderney Wildlife Trust are running a variety of environmentally-friendly events for all the family.

Participants will meet at various community spaces around the islands and clear up any litter left in the area.

The events have been spread out over the week:

11:30-12:30 Town Womble with Pick It Up Guernsey (meet at the top of Smith Street)

"Wombling Week coincides with the first week of hedge trimming this autumn, so we are focusing on creating healthy hedges by collecting litter from our local hedgerows and conserving these important wild habitats," a spokesperson from Plastic Free Guernsey said.

"We're calling on families, dog walkers and wobblers everywhere to take a countryside walk and collect any litter they find from hedgerows and habitats."

People of all ages are welcome to attend the events.
