The 48th World Aid Walk is on today with a new route in place, which will see hundreds of people, young and old, walking around Guernsey to raise money for several local charities.
After last year's heavy rain and wind, the route today cuts out the stretch from Vazon to Les Beaucamps High School, which left many walkers "disheartened" last year.
Roger Browning, who is a member of the organising committee, said he hoped the alteration will make the World Aid Walk more "enjoyable and family-friendly".
Guernsey-based charity This Is EPIC has been welcomed to the group fo this year's beneficiaries. It is focused on implementing Village Savings and Loans schemes in communities in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The other four charities for which the event will raise funds are ActionAid, Christian Aid, the Eleanor Foundation and the Tumaini Fund. All of these have a strong Guernsey presence and representatives from each are on the organising committee of the World Aid Walk.
