Flying Christine called out to Sark

Wednesday 03 February 2021

Paramedics and a volunteer boat crew were called out to Sark on Wednesday afternoon to help a woman who needed hospital treatment.

The St John Marine Ambulance was called out by the Sark Doctor at around midday to transfer a female patient to the Princess Elizabeth Hospital.

"The paramedic-led medical crew from the Emergency Ambulance Service met the island doctor and the female patient at the harbour," said a spokesman for St John Ambulance Guernsey. "Following a handover, the patient transferred them self to the marine ambulance for the return trip to Guernsey."

"The Flying Christine III was back in St Peter Port at just after 1pm and the patient was taken onto the Emergency Department of the PEH for further treatment."

"St John Ambulance Guernsey would like to thank the volunteer boat crew who attended this incident."

St John relies on charitable donations and sponsorship for the Flying Christine III, as well as charges to cover the ongoing operational and running cost of the marine ambulance.
