WIN: Croatian festival tickets

Friday 02 August 2019

Two tickets to Outlook are up for grabs as part of the official Guernsey launch party taking place this weekend hosted by two Guernsey based Djs performing at the festival.

Outlook is a well-renowned electronic music festival which takes place on the Croatian coast in September.

Launch parties will be taking place all over the country in the coming weeks for the festival which originated in Leeds and is popular with UK music fans. It's the first year Guernsey has hosted a launch party, hosted by Djs Inner Terrain (Pete Galliott) and Pressure (Stu Mair) who will also be performing at the festival in Pula (Croatia).

Featuring Chase and Status, Andy C, Loyle Carner and Shy FX among others the festival which takes place from 4-8 September has a number of stages including boat parties and a 150-year-old fort set stage.

Pete said the presence of the launch party, which is happening at the 250 capacity Fermain Tavern tomorrow night, is a sign of the burgeoning Drum n Bass scene in the island (ticket link and competition details below).

Randall

"[Outlook] were looking for promoters  locally and they were really happy with the calibre of people we were bringing over for the Dub Sessions nights which we've been involved in for 19 years now," he said.

This weekend's headline act Randall has visited the island before and will also be one of the headline Drum n Bass acts at Outlook itself.

"Randall is one of the best acts in years he was really happy last time he came over. I think we got noticed because we've really been stepping up our online profile we've been bringing really good artists over," he said.

Pete said the Dub Sessions group also pride themselves on getting local talent names out there on an equal footing with the established acts.

"With our promotional art work we make sure the local acts appearing  get the Outlook branding on their event posters and things like that," he said.

There have been a number of collectives forming on the island specifically for Drum n Bass including Resonate and Rave Era. V!be also recently formed its own electronic music festival with quality UK acts visiting the island over one weekend.

"Guernsey actually has a really good reputation for Drum n Bass, we've also got Hydro who's probably the most successful [Drum n Bass] producer to have come out of the island.

"We try to let each other know when we've got events going on, the thing about Drum n Bass is it's such a large spectrum of different types of music, from the more melodic stuff to the jump up styles.

"We've seen a lot of changes over the years, at the moment there's a lot of Jungle and '90s styles coming back in which is something I do," he said.

Second release and general admission tickets are still available for the gig on Saturday from Eventbrite the ticket includes entry to the competition to win two festival tickets as long as ticket holders are present for the draw which takes place at 21:00 on the night.
