'Essential' wellbeing practitioners can return

Some practitioners offering treatments and other wellbeing activities will be able to return to work sooner than thought, so long as it's approved by Guernsey's Medical Director.

While it's unlikely that providers of close personal care will be able to operate as usual before the islands reach Phase Four of the lockdown exit strategy, some activities can resume sooner with an understanding of the risks involved.

Health & Social Care has put together a risk assessment form, to be filled out by wellbeing businesses looking to return to work. It must be filled out based on their own premises and activities and has to be approved by the Medical Director before treatments can resume.

"Please note the application for approval will be considered for essential healthcare, where delay of treatment may result in further harm," a spokesperson for HSC said.

"Applications are not required for critical workers such as GPs or dentists who have operated essential services and have already plans in place.

"Applications for non-essential healthcare will not be considered in Phase 2 of the exit from lockdown."

However, there is no requirement for practitioners to return to their jobs yet and those who wish to wait until a later phase do not need to fill out the form. But, if they do complete the risk assessment, it is possible for the Medical Director to give approval subject to the Bailiwick moving into a different phase.

The form can be found here and should be emailed to publichealth@gov.gg.
