A teenager accused of possessing a number of dangerous weapons, including a homemade taser, has been released on bail.
The 18-year-old's parents called Guernsey Police about the taser last week but, when they searched a shed used by the defendant, officers found further cause for concern.
It is understood the young man had sole access to the shed, which contained a .22 calibre rifle, another firearm which appeared to have been adapted and a meat cleaver among other weapons.
Officers also noticed a vest filled with sand, which is thought to act as a homemade bullet-proof vest.
The defendant was remanded in custody on Wednesday of this week but, after meeting with a doctor to discuss his mental state, he was released on bail on Friday until his next court hearing.

Following the meeting, Dr Rahul Bhintade said the youth was not psychotic or suicidal and had not intended to harm anyone else. He believed the defendant failed to understand that the firearms were capable of shooting and purely thought he was collecting them.
The majority of the weapons have been confiscated by Guernsey Police, who now have the keys to the shed.
In accordance with his bail conditions, the young man cannot go within 100 yards of the shed which is not at his home property.
He has no previous convictions.
