Supporters are rallying round Mike and Delphine Pesrin-Auder, the owners of Octopus, after their restaurant was devastated by fire.
The popular eatery at Havelet went up in flames this morning.
The cause is as yet unknown, with Guernsey Police saying: "all lines of enquiry at this very early stage are open."
They joined the Fire and Rescue Service in responding to an emergency call to the restaurant just after 04:00.
The first firefighters on the scene were forced back out of the building due to the severity of the flames.
The restaurant was still alight at 08:00 but the fire has since been extinguished, with the fire crew using their turntable ladder to tackle it from above.
The couple who own Octopus echoed the words of the fire service when they called it "a significant and serious fire".
Writing on Facebook, they said "we are both absolutely devastated but realise the important thing is nobody was hurt."
Mike and Delphine Pesrin-Auder - who used to own the Petit Bistro before closing that French restaurant to concentrate on Octopus - offered their "sincere thanks to the many Police, Fire and Civil Protection professionals who have worked so hard to help us!"
They also offered thanks to their "wonderful staff" who they said "are as upset as we are".
The couple and their staff have been in receipt of many messages, flowers, and cards already today as people rally around them.
Fellow restaurateur Seamus Duggan wrote on Facebook: "It was of great sadness to wake this morning to the news that Octopus has suffered a devastating fire.
"We would like to send all our care and support to our good friends Mike, Delphine, and all their amazing team."
He offered "love and support" from all the team at Pier 17.
