There were 241 jobseekers without work at the end of September.

This is a decrease of 50 compared with the same time in 2023 and up 37 compared with June this year, mirroring the usual seasonal fluctuations.

The statistics are published quarterly by the Job Centre.

The number of jobseekers with some work increased by 15 to 69 people.

A number of training schemes and placements were run through the Job Centre to support people into employment.

At the end of September, there were 32 people on training schemes such as Work to Benefit, Kickstart and placements with the third sector.

The number of new claims for employment and income-related benefits decreased, with eight new claims made during the month, compared with 14 during June.

Of those out of work, 130 were men and 111 women.
