Tributes pour in after Quay FM station manager dies in car accident

Tuesday 26 March 2024

There has been an ‘outpouring of condolence’ following the death of well-known Alderney resident Tim Butler, who was involved in a car accident while on holiday.

He has been involved with Quay FM for more than 20 years, and the charity has posted the following statement:

“It is with great sorrow that today we have to bring you the news that QUAY-FM 107.1's station manager, Tim Butler and his partner Jill were in a car accident in Egypt, on their way to the airport at the end of their holiday.

“Sadly, Tim took the brunt of the impact and he passed away late last night.

“Jill is okay, badly bruised and shaken and she is being assisted by the British consul, and hopefully will be home in the next few days.”

A member of the Quay FM team said they have been honoured by the outpouring and condolence for Tim as it runs a tribute show today [26 March].
