Timings shared ahead of June Air Display

Thursday 13 June 2024

The annual Guernsey Air Display takes place today - some three months earlier than usual, with perennial favourites the Red Arrows among those flying in to entertain us.

Most of the planes arrived yesterday with their pilots meeting members of the public at Guernsey Airport on Wednesday afternoon ahead of the main event.

The 2024 Guernsey Air Display is due to start at 11:00 with the event closing at 13:15.

It will include flypasts and performances from "some of Britain’s most historic and treasured military aircraft alongside aerobatic and awe inspiring display teams," promised the organisers in advance of the show.

The aircraft performing include Team Raven and The Titans, which have both been part our air show previously, along with a French military team due here for the first time.

The Mustang X-Ray / PC21 team rarely perform outside of France and this is the first time they'll perform in the Channel Islands, or British airspace.

The Navy Wings, are also a new addition this year.

They were booked to replace the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight which is currently grounded after a recent fatal accident.

The timings are all subject to change but the latest available schedule is below.

Thousands of people are expected to turn out to watch the air show - which usually takes place in September, but this year has been brought forward to June.

That decision was made to ensure the Red Arrows could take part.

They will close the show after displays from seven other types of aircraft.

Each part of the air show will be visible above St Peter Port harbour, with vantage viewing points along the east coast and as far away as St Martins and St Sampsons.

The planned timings - which are subject to change - are as follows:

The Guernsey Air Display is predominantly funded through private donations, sponsorship from local businesses, and a grant and underwrite from the States of Guernsey.

The aim of the Air Display is to "commemorate the lives and legacy of all those RAF aircrew who have served their country with honour and pride over the last 100+ years".

It also helps ensure the preservation of historic aircraft, while supporting the Guernsey branch of the RAF Association.

The Air Display and the Meet the Pilots event are also designed to "educate and inspire the next generation of pilots, engineers, and aviation professionals".
