Time to 'shock the rock' for Alex McClean

Friday 29 March 2019

When he suddenly died at just 40-years-old, Alex McClean's family and friends were devastated, but now they want to 'shock the rock' in his memory.

An event has been planned, which should be different to any other 'dinner and dance' type gathering because this one will feature a number of things the late Airport Fireman enjoyed, including live music and motorbikes.

The Sarnians MCC member passed away on 15 September, 2016. He suffered a heart attack at home, leaving behind a young daughter as well as his brother, sister, parents, his partner Emma and other relatives.

They're supporting the Cardiac Action Group which is now fundraising in Alex's memory, by hosting the 'Shock the Rock' ball at Beau Sejour in June.

The McClean family will be there, along with hundreds of other bikers and music fans, with the event tailored around what Alex loved.

His family said; "Alex loved everything about Rock and Heavy Metal music. He played bass guitar, went to the greatest gigs and festivals and lived the life of a true headbanger.

"Having an event like this in his memory, knowing that it will be attended by a lot of his friends and family, means a great deal, giving everyone a chance to reminisce, raise lots of money and rock out for a great cause."

The 'ball' is not a 'black tie' event but is being billed as a chance for people to let their hair down to live music, with other entertainment planned and there'll be motorbikes on display too. The music will be a mix of classic, pop rock and heavier tunes.

Tickets are still available from the organisers, for the event on 15 June, 2019 at Beau Sejour.

The event is being supported by Cherry Godfrey, to ensure as much money as possible is raised for the charity.
