Three locals on New Year Honours List

Friday 27 December 2019

Three Bailiwick residents have been named in The Queen's New Years Honours List for 2020.

His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor announced today that one Guernseyman and one man from Alderney were going to be given MBEs, and another man from Guernsey was listed for a British Empire Medal.

The first of those men was David Swiffen from the Cotils, who was listed for his award because of his "services to wellbeing and inter-faith dialogue in Guernsey".

Next, the former President of the States of Alderney was listed, Stuart Trought, because of his service to the island.

Finally, Bryan Brehaut was awarded a BEM for the time he has given to young people in Guernsey through the Boys' Brigade.

Express have spoken to all three of the award winners, and will be releasing short interviews over the next three days, so to find out more about what each of them have done, and how they reacted to the news over Christmas, be sure to check back on our site.
