A local charity has launched a charity that seeks to find out what people in Guernsey need locally as they grow older.
The Transition to Retirment Survey has been launched by Ageing Well in the Bailiwick. It was developed with the help of Island Global Research.
Ageing Well also sought help from Age Concern Guernsey and other relevant charities.
The survey is available online HERE.
Findings from the survey will be used to inform the development of local services in line with States policy.
“The thought of growing older is not necessarily in the forefront of people’s minds, especially amongst the under 50s and those experiencing the pressures of daily life and demands on our time and finances," said the Chair of Ageing Well, David Inglis.
“As we start a new year, this survey is an opportunity to take a few minutes to think about our own circumstances. It is designed to collect information about what housing, support and services will benefit the community as we grow older and experience the transition from later life into retirement.
“It includes questions that will enable us to understand how younger age groups are preparing for the years to come and eventually for a good retirement, within the Bailiwick.”
Mr Inglis said a key part of supporting an ageing population will be to ensure relevant information is collected.
“It needs to include views from all age groups and be available to inform good decisions about housing, services and support for islanders as we transition into retirement. We hope this survey will go a long way towards doing that. There is also a chance it will identify issues people are facing now and that need to be fully understood.”
Ageing Well want anyone aged 18 and up to fill in the survey.
