The States is looking to fill a key independent role overseeing public engagement with Development Plans and Local Planning Briefs.
Environment & Infrastructure is hoping to attract locally-based qualified candidates to apply for the position of independent planning inspector - a role which is key to ensuring that draft proposals are "rigorously tested and examined" through a public process overseen by a qualified planning professional.
The new States has repeatedly put on record its desire to place a "lawful emphasis" on local recruitment and contracting. It is understood that special "value" will be given to on-island applicants to this role.
"As this role requires specialist skills and strict requirements that are set out in an Ordinance and Regulations, the Committee appreciates the potential possibility that there may be few eligible local candidates," said a spokesperson for E&I.
"However, the Committee would like to encourage any local persons eligible to be appointed to submit an expression of interest.
"The contracting of suitably qualified, experienced and skilled local businesses is the preferred outcome and the States of Guernsey procurement policy and rules requires that the value of awarding contracts on-island is recognised in the evaluation."
