The focal point of St Peter Port's Christmas decorations has been elevated onto a specially built platform, after multiple social media posts and comments concerning the size of this year's tree.
Express understands the tree was procured from a local non-profit organisation.
As it was sourced, and grown, on-island, it did not need to be shipped over, and was intended as a good gesture by all parties involved.
Pictured: Before and After - the tree was originally placed on the ground (left) before being lifted via crane onto its newly constructed platform (right).
The effort to erect the pine, plus the extra effort required to build a new platform and set the tree atop it, took place earlier this week.
Some posts on social media criticising the height and size of the tree have garnered a large response, with hundreds of comments.
Whilst working, the crew - employed by sponsor Rihoy and Son - were seen to be approached by members of the public offering comments and criticisms.
One worker told Express that someone had erroneously claimed the tree had “blown down in the wind” when it was seen lying on the floor temporarily. It had in fact been delicately placed there moments before while the raised platform was being built.
Express has approached Bailiwick Estates and Rihoy and Sons for comment.
