Short lists for 2019's sports personality of the year awards have been announced today, with three weeks for people to vote on their favourite in the main category.
There are four Channel Islands contenders for the top award: Jersey Swimmer Harry Shalamon, Guernsey Athlete Cameron Chalmers, Jersey Shooter Cameron Pirouet and Guernsey Footballer Maya Le Tissier.
"2019 has been an excellent year of sport for the islands, the nominations demonstrate the outstanding achievement by Channel Islands sports men and women throughout 2019. We are looking forward to an exciting evening of celebration and congratulate all those who have been shortlisted," sponsor Betway's Managing Director Paul Adkins said.

The other awards on the night include Team of the Year and Rising Star of the Year.
Guernsey Bowls, Jersey Cricket, Guernsey IG Table Tennis and Jersey IG Women’s Cycling are the four shortlistees for the Team of the Year award, and Kitty Brewer, Sam Culverwell, Tom Deffains, Charlotte Neale and Alex Scott are the five for the Rising Star.
Finally, the Coach of the Year award, sponsored by Source Recruitment, has four people on the short list; Amy Critchlow, Nathan Jegou, Neil MacRae, and Ray Smart.
Also to be awarded on the night will be the Michael Lucas Sporting Hero Award, and the Judges Award for Achievement. The whole thing will be presented live on ITV Channel Television during two special programmes at 20:30 and 21:40 on Thursday 30 January 2020 at Beau Sejour in Guernsey.
