A number of sports and social groups have taken the decision themselves to suspend activities, ahead of a States announcement on the matter which is expected later today.
As the threat of coronavirus continues to rise, with tens of deaths in the UK reported over the weekend, a number of Bailiwick based groups have told members to stay away from planned games and events.
These include local football games, with the Guernsey FA announcing on Saturday that all matches are suspended until further notice. A meeting is expected to be held today where more decisions may be made based on updated States advice.
The Guernsey Hockey leagues have been suspended with immediate effect, meaning the titles will be decided on the current placings. That means Indies have won the Ladies league, Casuals and FIXT Unwantables have taken the two men's titles.
Training for all age groups, matches and tours have been cancelled while the senior Inter- Insular matches in Jersey planned for next weekend have also been postponed until further notice.
Guernsey Basketball has said its current games schedule has been suspended and the GBA will follow advice before looking to possibly restart activities when they are able to.
Beau Séjour Swim School has announced it is closing with immediate effect, ahead of the term ending which was scheduled for 29 March. A review will be held after that about a possible reopening date.
Guernsey Swimming Club has amended its advice. It previously said it was monitoring the situation, and lessons would continue as normal - it has now said that any lessons scheduled to take place at Les Beaucamps or St Sampson's High schools are cancelled on the order of the Committee for Education, Sport and Culture.
Lessons due to take place at Beau Sejour are continuing for now.
The Annual Junior Meet and the Summer Graded Meet, which was to take place in Jersey, have both been cancelled, while the club championships will be under review as will the Island Championships, Tigers Open, Barracudas Open and Masters. The Southerns and Nationals will be governed by Swim England

While many sports activities are shutting down temporarily over coronavirus fears, the Guernsey Sports Commission is looking at ways to encourage people to stay active during times of self isolation.
