Guernsey Police say an aerosol can used to light a fire over the weekend was a decoration spray specifically designed for use on textiles.
The "distinctive Marabu Textil Design spray can" was found at the scene of one of two fires in the Collings Road area in St Peter Port with officers wanting to track down those responsible for the two small blazes.
In a statement released on Sunday morning Guernsey Police said two small fires were discovered on Saturday evening and early Sunday morning.
In both incidents the Guernsey Fire and Rescue Service were called out to the busy residential areas where they found both fires which are believed to have been sparked with blue rolls of tissue and aerosols.
In a further statement released today to Express, Guernsey Police said:
"Enquiries are ongoing into the two incidents of arson which were reported to us over the weekend. Both involved rolls of blue paper towels and at the latest incident aerosols being set alight.
"A distinctive Marabu Textil Design spray can has been recovered from one of the scenes. This is a decoration spray, specifically designed for use on textiles, and we would appeal for anyone who sells such sprays, or may have had one go missing recently to contact us, either directly on 725111 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
