Spare lateral flow kits for children who don't receive them

Thursday 26 August 2021

Spare packs of lateral flow tests will be available for collection by parents and guardians of school children from Friday, says the States, after a number of kits were sent to former addresses.

A number of people have been posting the names of schoolchildren online in the hope of getting their lateral flow kits to them.

A spokesperson for the States said the testing kits were sent out to the addresses on file at the pupils’ schools.

They added: “From Friday, by which time all packs should have been delivered by Guernsey Post, we will have spare packs available for collection from Sir Charles Frossard House and Beau Sejour if any parent hasn’t received them.”

Primary, secondary and post-16 students are asked to get two negative lateral flow tests in the week before they return to their school or college.

Teachers and support staff are also asked to carry out two lateral flow tests, which should be spread out over the week. All secondary, post-16 students and school staff will be asked to continue doing two lateral flow tests per week.

Meanwhile, any child who attends a pre-school, childminder or nursery will be asked to have a lower nasal PCR test before the start of term.
