'Soup-er' start to De La Rue’s community drive

Wednesday 06 November 2024

As part of a company wide initiative, one of St Peter Port's pubs has launched a ‘Community Week’ with a free soup kitchen, raising funds for Guernsey Welfare through donations.

Yesterday, staff from the Thomas De La Rue manned their free soup kitchen, and they’re continuing their community focus today and for the rest of this week too.

It includes a special pub quiz in their downstairs section this evening, and 'Drag-Karaoke' on Friday evening.

The events will all be raising funds for Guernsey Welfare Services, the Sunflower Project and the GSPCA, and are amongst many being organised by companies under the Liberation Group.

Ben Ferry, the Assistant Manager of the Thomas De la Rue, said the community focussed week has already got off to a good start.

“So far it’s been really good, well received by everybody. A lot of people have been coming down and saying how much of a good idea it is. Some people have taken the soup, others have just been donating.”
