Six days of firework displays on the way

Thursday 31 October 2024

Organisers of firework displays have registered events that will begin tomorrow.

Anyone holding a public or private firework display is encouraged to submit details of the event to the States so that neighbours and animal owners can find out about potential noise.

They can be found at gov.gg/events.

Environmental Health say that private displays should be kept to the designated day on Tuesday 5 November.

Both public and private fireworks events have been confirmed for Friday 1,  Saturday 2, Sunday 3, Monday4 , Tuesday 5 and Friday 8 November.

The department also issued a reminder to register bonfires with them and restrictions in place around them.

Bonfires for Guy Fawkes Night are limited to being held in a five day window.

“We want everyone to safely enjoy bonfire night, which is why there is a provision for bonfires to take place within a designated period,” said Tobin Cook, Director of Environmental Health & Pollution Regulation.

“But to make sure we can differentiate between a bonfire and someone just taking the opportunity to burn waste, there’s a need to register your bonfire with us.

“It’s quick and easy to get in touch with our team to make sure that we’re aware of your event and our team have already proactively contacted the organisers of all the larger events that we are aware of.”

Bonfires should happen between Sunday 3 and Thursday 7 November.

They can be registered by emailing envhealth@gov.gg or by calling 01481 221161.
