His Excellency, Vice Admiral Sir Ian Corder said it was an honour to present the shirts, although he joked his right hand felt the strain of shaking so many hands! He wished all of the players well before congratulating the Raiders on a hard fought promotion to National League Two, adding that they took the hard route but they got there in the end. He also commiserated with the Ladies who will be relegated for next season, after being promoted a year ago - but he said they will benefit from the experience gained from playing in the higher league.

The Siam Cup is the second oldest rugby trophy in the World to be contested after the Calcutta Cup and is always the subject of a fierce competition. Despite Jersey Reds having won it nine years in a row, the 2017 match was a close one, ending 20-18 to Jersey.
Guernsey Raiders Captain Lewis Hillier said all of the boys are looking forward to the game this Saturday, "the Siam Cup is vitally important to us as a club and even coming at the end of a long hard season which resulted in gaining promotion to National 2, the lads are excited for it" he said, "It should be a fantastic day on Saturday and it's a chance for us to play in front of a huge crowd for one final time this season, see you on Saturday!"
Ladies Captain Jemma Crouse said her team are also excited for the day, "We're nervous because obviously it doesn't all come down to form, it's about who wants the game more and going in to this game it's of such importance to all of us that it's always going to be an important fixture and we want to do as well as we can. So we are nervous but we are confident that we've put in the hours at the gym and at training and we're well prepared for the game."
