Specialist police officers are carrying out initial enquiries after a pedestrian was seriously injured in a road accident this morning.
Guernsey Police said the accident in Torteval happened shortly before 07:30 at Route des Laurens.
The collision involved a lorry and a pedestrian. No other details are known at this time.
A spokesperson for Guernsey Police confirmed the pedestrian has suffered "what are believed to have been serious injuries". They were taken to hospital by St John Emergency Ambulance Service.
"Specialist officers are currently on the scene conducting the initial stages of a collision investigation," said the police spokesperson.
"The road is expected to be opened later this morning.
"Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or who has any information regarding what happened. You can contact Police Headquarters on 01481 222 222."

Meanwhile, a second collision kept the emergency services busy this morning, on the first day back to work for many people following the Christmas and New Year festivities.
Shortly before 07:30 the second accident occurred at the junction of Les Baissieres and Rue du Friquet in the Castel.
Both police and ambulance personnel attended but it's not known if anyone suffered any injuries at this time.
The road was left partially blocked due to the incident with the emergency services remaining on the scene, and motorists asked to avoid the area, while the accident was dealt with.
