Rubis offers a helping hand

Vouchers towards heating oil bills are being given to families who need them ahead of this winter to help them keep on top of their utility costs.

Rubis is working with Guernsey Welfare and The Salvation Army in Jersey to ensure 200 families receive a £100 voucher towards their heating bill.

The energy firm said it has recognised that some people are struggling to heat their homes as the cost of living has increased so they wanted to offer the extra help this winter.

To try and help those most affected, Rubis is putting £20,000 worth of vouchers into the economy by sharing them with 200 families across the Channel Islands, who will receive a £100 voucher each.

Work to distribute the vouchers started this week with the Guernsey Welfare Service liaising with families it is already in contact with to share out the help.

Sue Le Friec from the Guernsey Welfare Service said it will really help those people out.

“With an increasing number of people turning to Guernsey Welfare for assistance, we are delighted that Rubis are offering support through providing free oil vouchers again this year. Although we’ve had a mild October, the thought of a cold winter looming is causing many people to be anxious. This is a great community initiative to help those who need it most and we are very grateful to Rubis for this support.”

Those who need support this winter with the cost of their heating oil are invited to get in touch with the Guernsey Welfare Service or The Salvation Army in Jersey. Tje vouchers will be given out and the recipient must then contact Rubis to redeem the £100 value when ordering their heating oil.
