Royal merchandise is in shops around the island in the run up to the big day on Saturday, yet it seems there is little 'sparkle' for Markle as retailers report little interest.
As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle prepare to tie the knot shops are stocking flags, bunting, plates, serviettes and a whole manner of memorabilia, however it seems locals are not 'buying' into this Royal occasion.
In Pound Magic the shelves are stocked with Union Jack themed items adorned with the image of Prince Harry and Meghan and the date of their wedding; 19 May 2018.
Express enquired about the sale of the items and was told: "They are only really selling well on cruise ship days. We had a load of Americans in yesterday buying things but the locals are not really interested."

Equally the forthcoming nuptials dominate the window display at Paperchase with messages encouraging street parties and flying the flag, but when we enquired as to sales of Royal merchandise the assistant said: "I haven't sold any, I don't think people are interested."
Those wanting to celebrate the wedding with a 'posher' tea party could purchase collectable mugs, plates or a coaster from Guernsey Candles. Once again we enquired with the retailer to find out how well sales were going. She said: "We haven't sold any."

We could not believe the island was so apathetic towards this Royal occasion so Express went out onto the streets of St Peter Port to find out if anyone is planning to watch the wedding on Saturday.

Perhaps we are in the minority at Express as three of our team will be enjoying a celebratory Royal wedding party and have purchased some merchandise for the occasion, including masks!
