A team of Royal Navy divers specialising in bomb disposal have arrived in Guernsey to inspect unexploded ordnance off the White Rock Pier.
Last week, local divers discovered what is believed to be a piece of Second World War ordnance 548 metres off the White Rock Pier.
A 200-metre maritime exclusion zone, pictured above, has been in place around the device since last Thursday.
Until the device has been safely disposed of, no underwater activities including anchoring, diving and dredging are allowed to take place in the exclusion zone.
The Navy team are planning to dive on-site to examine the device tomorrow (11 May). The team will then decide the next steps on how the ordnance will be disposed of, factoring in weather and tidal forecasts.
The Navy team are visiting the island under Covid-19 Critical Worker permits.
"They are complying with the applicable regulations and requirements during their visit to Guernsey," said a spokesman for Guernsey Harbours this evening.
