Road works resume

As island life slowly begins to revert to some kind of normality, a number of road closures have been put in place so maintenance and repairs can start again.

Now we're into phase two of the lockdown, any non essential road works have been able to resume, so long as the staff working can maintain social distancing.

One of the major closures to start with is the top half of Route Militaire, which will be closed to through traffic from today, until later this week.

There'll be diversions in place so motorists can bypass the road between the Les Sauvagees and Duveaux Lane junctions, while the road improvement works are carried out.

The South Esplanade in St Peter Port will have one lane closed for the rest of this week for resurfacing and work to the pedestrian crossing. 

Guelles Road is due to close on Wednesday for nearly a month so work can be carried out on the drains there.

Early in May, Vale Road will be closed, for another new drain to be connected.

Other road closures already in place include Route de Cobo and the Cobo coast road.
