Reservoir walk closed

Thursday 25 October 2018

Parts of the Millennium walk are closed to the public until Tuesday 30 October 2018 so that routine maintenance can be carried out.

The east car park and the dam wall were closed yesterday while the work got started, meaning that if you want to go for a walk in the area, you will have to walk further using public roads.

While the work is taking place, Guernsey Water has confirmed that the area can still be enjoyed from the west car park, using the alternative route which is illustrated below.

Phil Marquis, Income and Liaison Manager at Guernsey Water said: “We are currently undergoing seasonal repair work to the underside of the arches along the reservoir wall and therefore to ensure public safety, this and the adjacent east carpark is currently closed."

“Although home to the Millennium Walk, St Saviours Reservoir primarily represents a vital water storage and treatment works for Guernsey Water and the island as a whole. St Saviours reservoir is the second largest raw water store on the island, and is capable of storing 1,039 million litres of water. Its ongoing maintenance is essential to ensure the continued collection and supply of water that is safe and good to drink.

“The repair work should be complete by the end of the day on Tuesday 30 October.”
