Requiem Mass for Her Majesty

Sunday 11 September 2022

This morning's 10:30 Mass at St Joseph's Catholic Church will be a solemn Requiem Mass "offered for the gentle repose of Her Majesty's soul and for her family and all who mourn her, that they may be comforted".

The Catholic Church said it also has other services being held over the coming days to mark the death of Notre Duc.

Tomorrow, Monday 12 September 2022, between 11.30 and 12.30, there will be an opportunity for "anybody who wants to spend some time in quiet prayer and reflection in the tranquility and peace of St Joseph’s Church".

The Church, at La Couperderie, along with Notre Dame du Rosaire Church in Burnt Lane will remain open daily for anyone who wants "a quiet and peaceful place in which to ponder on the events" of recent days.

A spokesperson for the Church said this is not just open to Catholics or regular Churchgoers, but anyone of any or no faith who wishes to pray for the Queen or to reflect on her life and service.

The spokesperson said: "A cordial invitation is extended to all Islanders to of all faiths and non to join with the Island’s Catholic community to pray for the repose of Her Majesty’s soul and reflect on a life of service undertaken with faith and duty in the true spirit of the Gospel message."
