Delays have hampered maintenance of States-run areas of Delancey Park.
The issue boiled up this week in a post on the St Sampson’s douzaine Facebook page which has since been edited to remove criticism of the States.
Work has begun repairing the play area.
In the original post, Douzainier Paul Watts said: "The Delancey Park Committee and Douzaine are pleased to see that the States are finally maintaining the children's play area" going on "they (The States) have neglected the area and Park for a long time. The Committee are pleased with the commitment to repair and replace damaged and broken equipment and lay a new safety base. We look forward to working with the States to raise the standard of the park".

Express approached the States for a reaction, and the next morning the post was edited to read: “The Douzaine's Delancey Park Committee are pleased to see that the States Department are commencing repair and refurbishment of the children's play area. We look forward to working with the Department to bring the rest of the Park up to the standard expected by its users.”
The douzaine has been approached for comment.
A spokesperson for the States said:”Unfortunately due to multiple factors there has been some maintenance delays in areas of Delancey Park which the States lease. The States Property Unit is working with Douzaine to rectify the outstanding work to the play equipment.
“Over the next fortnight a new surface of woodchips will be laid, the equipment will be made safe, and the facility temporarily reopened. In addition to the surface, new parts have been ordered for the equipment which will take six to eight weeks to arrive. The parts will take around two days to fit and will ensure the equipment remains in service for many years. The total cost of this work is £5,705.”
Some people commenting on the Facebook post have been critical of the work only now taking place during the school holidays.
Mr Watts replied to apologise for the timing: “The Douzaine has been trying to get this done by the States all year.”
