Remembrance events tomorrow

Saturday 12 November 2022

The canons from Castle Cornet will mark the start and end of a two minute silence ahead of wreath laying ceremonies across the Bailiwick tomorrow.

The castle will be open to the public for free between 10:00 and 13:00 tomorrow with the silence being observed at 11:00 inline with silences across the country.

The time is intended to be spent in reflection, honouring the memory of those who died in the First World War and subsequent conflicts.

Those who choose to observe the silence at Castle Cornet can also view the Royal Guernsey Light Infrantry museum for free.

Guernsey's main act of remembrance will be focused around the war memorial at the top of Smith Street.

A parade will see armed forces personnel and island dignitaries make their way to the memorial ahead of prayers and wreaths being laid.

In Alderney and Sark, similar events will be held at the Island Hall and at the memorial near the Church respectively.

Other events will be held across the Bailiwick, including at the parish war memorials.
