The public have been invited to have their say on a proposed strategy by the States of Alderney to protect the island’s biodiversity.
The Island Plan, launched earlier this year, included a commitment to producing an Alderney Biodiversity Strategy (ABS).
The States of Alderney have since published the guidelines for a future ABS, including a need for the final document to help connect the island community with nature, and to improve knowledge about nature to inform decision making.
“There is huge potential for improving biodiversity across Alderney to increase the benefits we gain from our natural environment and stabilise our existing ecosystems,” said a government spokesperson.
A consultation period will run from now until 2 September. People will be able to drop in to the Island Hall on 25 August, or email their views to consultation.alderney@gov.gg.
