Tonight, Town will one again see a night of world class music, patriotic singing and true ‘feel good’ factor as the Guernsey Proms is staged for the fourteenth time.
Proms has been held in a number of locations over the years and in 2019 will make a return to the central St Peter Port Market Square location. The organisers boasted that it has become an "unmissable date in the diary for hundreds of islanders and visitors alike".
Proms in the Square will take place from 19:30 until the end of the BBC’s coverage of the LastNight of the Proms at around 22:45.
The first half of the event is a live concert performed by some o fGuernsey’s many talented musicians and will see the Guernsey Jazz Orchestra (GJO) take to the stage with guest singers Kieron Rose and Graham Dawson.
The second half of the BBC’s Last Night of the Proms from the Royal Albert Hall will be streamed live on the big screen from approximately 21:00. Sakari Oramo will be making his fourth appearance of the 2019 Proms series to conduct the BBC Symphony Orchestra for their traditional Last Night appearance.
There will be a small entry charge for Proms this year which the organisers said they have "been able to keep at just £5 per person and free for under 14s" with the support of their sponsors Royal Bank of Canada, First Central Group and the Guernsey Arts Commission.
