An artist who appeared on Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year in 2019 is appealing to islanders for landscape suggestions of Guernsey.
Tony Parsons arrived in the island on Sunday to start an 'en plein air' (outdoor painting) stint, creating three to five paintings a day, which he hopes to display at a free exhibition in the island in October.
In addition to the paintings from life, Mr Parsons is hoping islanders will send him their landscape images for him to create larger pieces in his studio in Sussex.

“It is much better to work with islanders for this sort of project; they get to see the island in all its moods and capture things that I couldn’t hope to see on a flying visit,” said Mr Parsons.
Mr Parsons originally attempted to visit the island last November.
“I have been to Jersey on several occasions and received a lot of social media requests to come to Guernsey,” he said.
“I attempted to come to Guernsey in November for a reconnaissance for a painting exhibition, but my ferry was caught up in Storm Arwen and I ended up in Jersey again instead.
“This time I am determined to record as much of Guernsey as possible in oil paint with the aid of my trusty folding easel. I will work about 10 hours a day, right up until the sun disappears.”

Mr Parsons said he was enjoying his time on the island.
“I have an affinity with boating, and I love seascapes, in particular where the sea meets the land so there have been lots of opportunities for that in Guernsey,” he said.
“I am also thoroughly enjoying Guernsey’s rocks, of which there are plenty of in so many different colours.”
Mr Parsons has also run a workshop for Sarnia Art Club on his visit.

“While I am here, I am hoping to secure a suitable venue for an exhibition in the autumn,” said Mr Parsons.
“When the show happens, hopefully in October, it will be free to visit, and I will aim to put on demonstrations during the evenings of the show dates. The pieces will also be available to buy.
“I would encourage islanders to contact me on Facebook or Instagram if they have photos they think would be suitable for landscape paintings.”
