Project Sparkle brightens up Christmas for hospital patients

Friday 25 December 2020

The Leo Club of Guernsey has delivered presents to PEH patients who are in hospital over Christmas.

‘Project Sparkle’ delivers gifts every year to islanders who are alone during the holidays. These gifts are donated by individuals and local businesses in the Bailiwick.

“Christmas is not always a positive time of year for islanders, particularly those who are in hospital over the festive period,” said Sophie Veron of the Leo Club.

“We hope Project Sparkle can bring some joy to all those patients who are not able to spend time with friends or family this year.”

Deliveries were made to all of the hospital’s long-stay wards, as well as to any other patients who will be in the hospital over the Christmas period.

Head of Acute Nursing Care Elaine Burgess thanked the Leo Club for their continued support of the holidays.

“We try and make it as nice as possible for the patients who are in hospital over Christmas,” she said. “Project Sparkle is guaranteed to bring a smile to the faces of those receiving the gifts, and the staff caring for them.”
