Popular children’s authors come to Guernsey

Friday 23 February 2024

Three children’s authors will be visiting Guernsey to talk to young people during Guilles-Alles Library’s book week.

Petr Horacek, Karen McCombie and Christopher Edge will tour the island reading their work and meeting with thousands of local schoolchildren.

Each author will also host a free workshop or presentation at the library during their time in Guernsey.

The three authors have been chosen as their combined work appeals to a broad age range.

We’re extremely excited to be welcoming three fantastic authors to the Island this year. Book Week is always great fun, and it’s a wonderful opportunity for children to meet famous writers,” said Head of Children and Young People’s Services, Jodie Hearn.

“Author visits are known to create a lasting impression – they develop children’s reading skills, boost their enjoyment and confidence in reading and creative writing, and encourage them to read for pleasure, which is so important for both their educational outcomes and their happiness and wellbeing. It’s always wonderful to see the children enjoying themselves at these events each year.”

The events are free but need to be booked, more information is available ONLINE.
