POLL: If you could, who would you vote for?

If you're not totally bored senseless by the UK's General Election, then we want to know, just for fun, who would you vote for if you could?

A number of people living in the Bailiwick will have actually been able to vote, if they had registered for a proxy or postal vote in time, having lived in the UK during the past 15 years, and kept their name on the electoral roll.

But the majority of people in the Bailiwick won't be able to have their say today, even though this General Election will undoubtedly affect life in the islands too.

Of the main political parties in the UK, Boris Johnson is promising the Conservatives will "get Brexit done" with a January deadline set. Brexit has already cost Guernsey around £3million, with civil servants and politicians dedicating countless hours to a situation we never got to vote on in the first place.

If you think Brexit won't affect you, keep an eye on the news for the introduction of vehicle testing and other new laws being introduced as a result of Britain voting to leave the EU.

Jo Swinson says the Liberal Democrats will stop Brexit if she is elected as the UK's third female Prime Minister, while Jeremy Corbyn is promising to save the NHS if Labour is elected.

There is also the emergence of the Brexit Party with this election, with Nigel Farage as its figurehead, even though he isn't standing for a seat in Parliament himself.
