Police offer assurances that Brock Road house was left safe after explosive substances arrest

Wednesday 02 October 2024

A Brock Road property was cleared of any dangerous substances as part of a police operation during the summer.

Specialists from the British Army and UK police were brought over to assist local officers in safely removing a number of different chemicals from a property in June.

A man was arrested on suspicion of making or possessing explosive substances, but no further action will be taken on that.

"On the 7th June 2024, Guernsey Police undertook an operation focused on a property on Brock Road, which was suspected of containing substances which could have been used to make explosives," said a police spokesperson today.

"Specialists from the UK assisted our officers in entering the property to assess what risk, if any, the substances presented, and then to safely clear the property. The operation was carried out safely and without incident.

"We have recently had enquiries as to whether the property involved in this incident was left safe following this incident, and we'd like to reassure the community that the entire scene was made safe on the day of the operation. When the scene was cleared, it was entirely sterile and stable, and any substances which presented any kind of risk were taken away and destroyed."
