Police investigating after roofing batten stolen from private property

Tuesday 22 June 2021

Roofing batten - which has recently been described as being like "gold dust" due to shortages - has been stolen from a private property in Les Vardes.

The theft is thought to have occurred between 15:00 on Thursday 17 June and 07:00 on Friday 18 June.

Officers say they are particularly interested in speaking to any residents in the area who noticed any commercial vehicle movement in the early hours of the Friday morning.

The covid pandemic stalled production at millions of factories worldwide, including those that supply Guernsey’s construction industry, leading to delays in deliveries of roofing batten of up to four or five months.
