Police investigate attempted house arson

Police are searching for witnesses to an attempted arson, where someone put flammable objects through a house letter box and lit them on fire.

It was a property on Sausmarez Street, St Peter Port that had a number of fire lighter bricks pushed through the letter box, before the assailants tried to light them.

The incident occurred sometime between 14:00 on Friday 26 October and 09:00 on Monday 29.

PC James De La Mare is investigating the report, and said: "between these times an individual or individuals attempted to set fire to a property by place flammable items through ha letter box and igniting the contents.

"The items are believed to have been fire lighters at this time. We are in the early stages of the investigation, so are making initial enquires houses to house, and looking for any witnesses. We also have some CCTV enquires to make."
