Plane spotters could benefit from food and beverage ‘van or trailer’

Thursday 18 July 2024

Guernsey Ports is advertising for businesses interested in operating a food and beverage service in the airport’s ‘Spotters Car Park’.

Guernsey Ports Commercial Development Project Manager David Buddery describes the spot as “an excellent and well-used location for plane spotters enjoying views” across the airport, in addition to local cycle groups who convene there.

“With little to no amenities at the site currently, we are seeking expressions of interest from anyone interested in running a self-sustainable business here.”

They are hoping for a business able to operate out of a stand-alone unit such as a van or trailer to provide “an additional service (to) our community”, but are also open to alternative proposals.

The call comes from a “much wider initiative to develop underutilised areas of the aerodrome and increase non-aeronautical revenue” and follows the announcement of the opening of a new landside store in conjunction with the Guernsey Hamper Company.

Any enquiries should be made to david.buddery@ports.gg by 19 August.
