A petition has been started to stop the re-development of the former Auberge restaurant into a residential property.
Andrew Haining has applied for a change of use of the restaurant to make it an ‘adjoining dwelling’ to the property he owns next door.
When he bought the popular restaurant from the Liberation Group in 2018, he stated: "Auberge is a fantastic business that I have always had an interest in. The restaurant is a stone’s throw from my house and I can’t wait to meet and get started working with the team.
"I am ambitious for the Auberge and hope to build on the success that it has had in recent years." Just months later, the restaurant closed.

Hundreds of people have rallied against Mr Haining's latest proposal. As of 23:59 on Tuesday, more than 500 people have so far signed an online petition started by Alvin Furrer, who intends to give the petition to the States.
The public has two weeks to make representations against the proposed development, with the deadline for planning objections the 17 May.
The proposals include reconfiguring the entire building into a "more modern open plan family living space".

After closing the Auberge, the site was briefly in operation as 'The View', but the tenant has since moved on.
